The Canadian Football League launched its official mobile app on September 8, with theScore Bet as presenting partner. The app combines live scores, league news, highlights, statistics, fantasy features and betting-related integrations in one service, according to the CFL. CFL

The partnership places PENN Entertainment’s Canadian gaming brand inside the league’s main digital channel, linking sports content and regulated online gaming in Ontario and Alberta.

What the app offers

  • Real-time CFL scores and statistics.
  • League news, highlights and exclusive content.
  • Fantasy features and other fan-engagement tools.
  • Branding and betting-related integrations connected to theScore Bet.

The app is available through Apple’s App Store and Google Play. The CFL described the launch as part of a broader digital overhaul that began with a redesigned website ecosystem. CFL

PENN expands its Canadian strategy

Canadian Gaming Business reported that the partnership extends beyond naming rights. TheScore Bet receives visibility across CFL platforms, while theScore’s sports media app is expected to carry more league content and fan-engagement features. Canadian Gaming Business

The deal comes as PENN builds a larger presence in Canada’s newly expanded regulated gaming market. PENN launched theScore Bet, theScore Casino and Hollywood Casino in Alberta when the province opened its regulated online gaming market on July 13, 2026, according to Canadian Gaming Business.

PENN has operated theScore Bet in Ontario since the province’s regulated market opened in April 2022. Canadian Gaming Business reported in August that PENN planned to invest about US$20 million in Alberta in 2026, including spending linked to marketing and the CFL partnership. Ontario and Alberta have different rules

The partnership does not create a single national online betting market. Ontario’s system is administered through iGaming Ontario and overseen by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. Its operator directory listed Score Media and Gaming Inc. and theScore Bet among approved offerings as of September 1, 2026. iGaming Ontario

Alberta uses a separate structure. The Alberta iGaming Corporation oversees the market, while Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis acts as regulator. The province’s regulated market opened on July 13, 2026. Government of Alberta

For users, the provincial split affects how age checks, identity controls, geolocation, safer-gambling tools and complaint procedures operate. The CFL said betting-related activity connected to its partnerships is available only where it is authorized and regulated. CFL

Why the placement matters

The app gives theScore Bet visibility while fans are using the league’s services for scores, news and fantasy content. That creates a direct connection between following CFL games and encountering a regulated gaming brand.

The arrangement also reflects a wider shift in sports sponsorship. Leagues are using digital platforms to combine content, fan engagement and commercial partnerships rather than relying only on traditional advertising.

For the CFL, the app is a central distribution channel for league content. For theScore Bet, it places the brand in the daily mobile experience of fans in Ontario and Alberta.

The CFL’s 2026 season ends with the 113th Grey Cup in Calgary on November 15. The event will be the partnership’s largest test of visibility in Alberta, where regulated private online gaming began on July 13.
