Delasport launched PlayBetNova.ca in Alberta on October 19, 2026. The move gives the Betnova brand a live presence in Canada’s second competitive regulated iGaming market and adds another technology-backed operator to Alberta’s expanding sportsbook and online casino sector.

The Alberta rollout includes Delasport’s sportsbook, casino, player-account management platform and managed services. The supplier says the turnkey package allows PlayBetNova.ca to operate and expand without building a full technology stack from scratch.

Delasport described the launch as an extension of its relationship with Betnova in Ontario. Its technology was already supporting Betnova.ca in Ontario, along with other brands, before the Alberta expansion.

Why the Alberta launch matters

Alberta’s regulated iGaming market opened on July 13, 2026. The Alberta iGaming Corporation oversees market operations and commercial agreements. Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis, or AGLC, handles regulatory oversight.

Alberta’s transition period ended on October 13, 2026. The deadline increased pressure on operators and suppliers to complete registration, commercial arrangements and technical preparations for continued activity in the province.

For newer brands, a turnkey platform can reduce the work needed to enter a regulated market. Delasport’s package brings several functions together:

  • Sportsbook technology
  • Online casino services
  • Player-account management
  • Managed operational support

That structure may help smaller or newer brands compete with better-known operators as Alberta’s market fills out. It does not remove the need to meet regulatory, technical and player-protection requirements.

Registration does not replace operator obligations

Delasport said it is registered with AGLC as an iGaming Platform Provider and Critical Gaming Systems Supplier. Those registrations place the supplier within Alberta’s regulated framework, but they do not make Delasport the operator of PlayBetNova.ca.

The distinction matters. AGLC regulates the industry and sets requirements covering advertising, player protection, security and responsible gambling.

The Alberta iGaming Corporation handles commercial agreements, anti-money-laundering arrangements, financial matters and income reporting.

AGLC also requires registered operators to connect to Alberta’s centralized self-exclusion program. Players can exclude themselves from registered iGaming platforms, land-based casinos and racing entertainment centres, or from both types of venue.

PlayBetNova.ca is now live, but the real test is whether the brand can build a durable Alberta operation while meeting the province’s regulatory and player-protection standards.

A crowded market with more scrutiny

Alberta’s competitive model is intended to move activity away from unregulated websites and into provincially supervised services. The province has said the regulated market provides greater local control and keeps a larger share of gaming revenue in Alberta.

That opportunity comes with a demanding compliance test. New brands must provide reliable identity checks, geolocation, payment controls, security systems and responsible-gambling tools while competing for attention in a crowded market.

For PlayBetNova.ca, going live is only the first step. Its next challenge is showing whether Delasport’s technology and managed services can support a lasting Alberta operation under the province’s new rules.
