Rush Street Interactive and Gateway Casinos & Entertainment announced an exclusive Alberta partnership on August 26, 2026. The agreement links the BetRivers online platform with Gateway’s two Edmonton casinos.

The properties are Grand Villa Casino in Edmonton’s ICE District and Starlight Casino at West Edmonton Mall. Planned activity includes events, promotions and brand activations that connect online customers with Gateway’s land-based venues, according to the announcement reported by Finance Yahoo.

The partnership expands BetRivers’ physical presence in Alberta, but it does not add BetRivers-branded retail sportsbooks to Gateway’s Edmonton casinos.

What the partnership changes

Alberta opened its competitive regulated online gambling market on July 13, 2026. BetRivers launched in the province on the same date with online casino games and sports betting for eligible players aged 18 and older.

BetRivers operates the online casino and sportsbook platform. Gateway operates the two Edmonton casinos. The partnership creates a commercial link between the companies, but it does not combine their regulatory responsibilities.

The companies have not disclosed the financial terms or a full schedule of activities. They said initial events and promotions would begin during the summer, with additional activity planned through the year.

No BetRivers sportsbook at Gateway casinos yet

The agreement does not currently include retail sportsbooks at Grand Villa or Starlight, according to a BetRivers spokesperson cited by Casino.org.

Alberta rules allow licensed private online operators to apply for retail sportsbooks. Those facilities must operate inside an approved casino, racing entertainment centre or professional sports venue.

A separate application to the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission would be required. The current agreement therefore focuses on marketing and customer experiences, rather than a new betting counter or sportsbook floor at either Gateway property.

How Alberta’s system works

Operators in Alberta’s regulated market must register with the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission and sign a commercial agreement with the Alberta iGaming Corporation.

Gateway’s two casinos give BetRivers access to different high-traffic entertainment locations. Grand Villa is located in the downtown ICE District. Starlight operates inside West Edmonton Mall. Gateway lists both properties in its official Alberta property directory.

The agreement is an early test of whether Alberta’s new online market can generate activity across digital and land-based gambling. For players, the immediate change is access to BetRivers-linked events and promotions, not a new BetRivers retail sportsbook at either casino.
