Two Quebec players won a combined C$2,656,090.99 in Powerbucks jackpots during August, according to International Game Technology and Loto-Québec. The wins occurred nine days apart through Loto-Québec’s online gaming site.

  • A player from Outaouais won C$1,560,863.21 on August 7.
  • A player from Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean won C$1,095,227.78 on August 16.
  • The combined payout was C$2,656,090.99.

IGT announced the wins on September 10. Loto-Québec disclosed the winners’ regions and the games involved on September 9.

Two linked jackpots produced more than C$2.6 million in payouts, but the announcements do not disclose the odds, total wagering or number of players involved.

Two games, one jackpot network

The first player won the August 7 jackpot on Mystery of the Lamp Treasure Oasis. The second won the August 16 jackpot while playing Powerbucks Blackjack.

Powerbucks is a progressive jackpot system supplied by IGT. Loto-Québec says progressive jackpots increase as wagering accumulates until a player wins. The pool is available through online games and selected casino and gaming-hall machines.

IGT said Powerbucks games have awarded more than 80 Canadian jackpots worth at least C$1 million since the system launched in Canada in 2016. Its September 10 announcement did not provide a complete list of winners or a provincial breakdown of payouts.

Quebec eligibility and player protections

The wins took place within Quebec’s provincial online gaming framework. Loto-Québec’s online gaming conditions require account holders to meet several requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Reside in Quebec.
  • Complete registration before playing.
  • Complete identity verification.

Loto-Québec’s online gaming rules also provide for a weekly deposit limit. Players can set time limits, take voluntary breaks and use self-exclusion tools.

IGT supplies the jackpot technology, while Loto-Québec operates the player accounts and the provincial online gaming site. The arrangement means that the jackpot network can span digital and land-based channels, while access and account rules remain tied to Quebec’s system.

What the payouts do not show

The two wins demonstrate the size a linked progressive jackpot can reach. They do not establish the odds of winning, the total amount wagered or the number of players who used the games during August.
