Canada’s National Para Hockey Team beat the United States 5-1 in Nymburk, Czechia, on October 24, 2026, to win its first International Para Hockey Cup gold.

The final also marked Adam Dixon’s 277th game for Team Canada, a new appearance record. The Midland, Ontario, athlete reached the milestone in the same game that secured the title.

From opening loss to a record-setting final

The result reversed the teams’ opening-game result. The United States beat Canada 5-3 on October 18, six days before the final. USA Hockey’s schedule confirms both scores.

  • October 18: United States 5, Canada 3
  • October 24: Canada 5, United States 1

Hockey Canada reported that Dixon’s 277th appearance moved him past the previous Team Canada record of 276, held by former national women’s team player Hayley Wickenheiser.

Canada’s first Cup gold came against the same team that beat it in the opening game. Dixon set a national-team appearance record in the final.
